How spunlace is made
Spunlace (also called hydroentangled nonwoven) is made by blasting a web of fibres with fine high-pressure water jets. The jets tangle the fibres together without glue or heat, giving a fabric that is soft, cloth-like and strong.
Fibre blends
Common blends mix viscose (soft and absorbent) with polyester (strong and lower cost). Higher viscose content feels softer and is often preferred for baby and face wipes.
Where it is used
- Wet wipes — baby, personal care and household
- Facial and cosmetic pads
- Medical and hygiene disposables
- Industrial wiping cloths
What to ask your supplier
